Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Looking Glass Animal Rescue is a 501c3 virtual rescue, using a network of dedicated fosters throughout Louisiana and the Northeast to care for our animals until adoption. You may be required to travel if approved for adoption. You may be required to travel if approved for adoption. Meet Watson - one of two sweet boys who showed up at the door of one of our fosters looking for love, food, and a roof over his head. Watson is an adult male pittie mix, medium sized in stature but solid, happy and easy going - just give him food, love, a place to lie his head, and a big stick to carry around and chew, and he's a happy dawg! Watson is up to date on his veterinary care now and ready to find a home of his own. Watson loves long walks, a good bone, and is playful but not high energy, nor does he care about toys. He loves people and can be a snuggler, but is not a "velcro" dog - he's happily independent at times, too. He has not exhibited anxiety or a need for dominance over other dogs with whom he shares his space. As with all new dogs, Watson will need time to acclimate to his new home, people, and any fur siblings he may acquire through adoption. His foster mom believes he will make a great addition to any family. Applications can be submitted through lgarinc/adoption-application/. Please note that you must be 25 years of age to adopt, and we reserve the right to refuse adoption to anyone. All applications are subject to review and approval and a tax-deductible adoption donation is required to be paid prior to adoption day. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
