Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (short coat). Dustin is a senior with the mind and personality of a puppy; always curious, happy, and hungry. This sweet senior would prefer to be the center of someone's world as the only dog but can co-exist with other dogs with compatible personalities. Dustin loves nothing more than a good chew toy and comfy bed. He would prefer to sleep in with you and binge watch Netflix than to get up for an early morning run. Waking up this guy before he's ready is impossible; he lives for comfy spots and sleep. Dustin does require a special diet to keep his skin and coat looking top notch and keep his allergies under control. He is currently in a foster home and his foster is happy to tell potential adopters the food regimen that has worked best for him. Dustin is excellent about eating his fruits and veggies as his treats include carrots, apples, celery, and cucumbers. Dustin is already potty trained and crate trained so he's ready to be an excellent cuddle buddy and companion.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
