Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 300.00. America came to us as a mom to 4 pups. All the pups have found homes and now it is her turn for a forever home. America was heartworm positive, has been treated and totally cleared for adoption. She is a sweet dog that wants to live life to the fullest. “America is one of the sweetest dogs I’ve ever met. She’s gentle, playful, and has the kindest heart. She’s the kind of dog who just makes you feel good to be a round.” – EADR Volunteer At 4 years old, this pit mix has already been through so much — abandoned with her puppies, battling heartworm, and finally finishing her treatment. Now she’s healthy, spayed, and ready for her forever family. America is full of love and loyalty — she just needs a home where she can be the one and only. Could you be the one to give her that happy ending?

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
