Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Meet Sloan â The Quiet Soul with a Heart Full of Love 2-Year-Old Neutered Male | Pit Bull Mix | Heartworm Positive (Foster Needed for Treatment) | Gentle & Affectionate Once He Trusts You There's something effortlessly cool about Sloanâa gentle, soulful pit bull mix with a quiet presence and a whole lot of love to give. At 2 years old, Sloan might come off shy at first, but give him a little time, and you'll see the soft-hearted cuddle bug hiding just beneath the surface. Sloan is currently heartworm positive and not undergoing treatment due to the stress of the kennel environment. However, he would be an ideal candidate for foster care, where he could begin treatment in a calm, loving home. Heâs on monthly prevention and just waiting for someone to help him start healingâinside and out. Once Sloan knows you're safe, he leans in with his whole heart. Heâs affectionate, loyal, and incredibly sweetâa true best friend in the making. If you're the kind of person who believes the best things are worth a little patience, Sloan might just be your perfect match. Heâs ready to blossomâyou just need to open the door.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
