Description

Dog Breed: Rottweiler. Gazan is amazing if you have the time to give him to trust you before you put any pressure on him. He doesn't trust people too quickly but it seems that once you bond with him, it's a pretty solid relationship. It took me 2 weeks to get to that point and it took my husband 3 weeks to get there with him. He does have a bite record. He bit his previous owner who stuck his arm through a pool fence to pet him while he was eating and Gazan got his hand. That is strange to think of him doing that because he seems very relaxed when he is eating, I have walked around him closely and picked up the water bowl to refill it that was right next to his food bowl, and he didn't do anything, not even a growl or shift his weight or anything. I know that there were young teens in his original home and he did fine with them. He is a ball freak and you have to be willing to throw his ball for him, a lot. You have to have the patience and able to contain yourself from touching him for at least a week maybe two. He will come to you when he is ready. He does not like strangers in his personal space, just like you or I don't, and he hates it as much as we do during covid. I had a family come and meet him a couple of weeks ago and they were playing with him and he was doing great with them and then he decided to take a little break and lay down on his bed, and the dad decided to kneel down right in front of his bed and talk to him, and he gave a little bark and a lunge to warn him to back up. Scared the guy but Gazan didn't touch him and as soon as the guy backed up he was fine with him again. They were here with him for about an hour. I took him to a training class a couple of weeks ago and we were surrounded by rottweilers and their handlers in 4-6 feet in all directions and he was perfect. He walks perfect on a leash, and know all his basic commands well, in both english and Armenian. He is highly treat and toy motivated, and thats also the quickest way to win his heart. From what i have observed, He matches the attitude of other dogs. If they are friendly, he is too. If they are aggressive, then game on. Probably best to match him with a female but he could enjoy a male friend too. I recommend that he is not matched with a small dog. If you are looking for your companion dog to double as a guard dog then Gazan is your guy. He can be very protective over the people he loves. He is a very smart dog and his potential is only limited by the time that can not be invested in him. If you have time on your side, this dog can be rockstar! He is worth the trouble. Adoption Process: If you are interested in adopting one of our fun-loving, "not-so-rotten" Rotties, you will be asked to fill out our adoption application which allows us to get to know you better. This ensures the dog you are interested in is a good fit for your family and lifestyle. You can access our Adoption Application by visiting our website at .rottenrottie, clicking on Adopt a Rottweiler Adoption Application, and submitting the form online. After reviewing your answers, if we feel the dog you are interested in is not a match for your family, we may recommend a different Rottweiler companion. Once we determine which dog is best for you, we will schedule a meeting at their current home, where they feel most comfortable and act naturally. We require a home check to ensure each dog is going to a safe environment. To finalize the process, an adoption contract must be signed. We also require a rehoming fee, which is typically $500 for most adults and $350 for seniors (6 years and older) or Rottweiler mixes of any age (excluding puppies). Fees for puppies fluctuate depending on the investment required for the litter and whether they are purebred or a mix. These funds are necessary for our organization to continue rehoming Rottweilers in need. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and have tested negative for heartworms. Each dog comes with a collar and a leash. We also address any injuries or illnesses they had upon arrival or developed in foster care; any such conditions will be fully disclosed to the adopter prior to the adoption. Please Note: In almost all cases, we do not adopt to out-of-state applicants. On rare occasions, if we feel it is a PERFECT match for both you and the dog, we may make an exception for our neighbors in Las Vegas. If you live in Las Vegas and would like to be considered, please fill out our adoption application.

Rottweiler

A.K.A.: Rottweil butcher's dog, Rottweil dog, Rottie, Rotty, Rott, Rot, Rotts, Rotties, Butchers dog, German Rottweiler
Overview:

The Rottweiler is a powerful and intelligent breed, originating in Germany where they were primarily used to drive cattle and guard property. Physically, they are robust dogs, instantly recognizable by their medium-large size, strong build, and striking black coat with distinct tan markings, particularly on the muzzle, chest, and legs. Their temperament, when properly socialized and trained, is one of unwavering loyalty and confidence; they are known for being calm and courageous, making them excellent guardians. While generally good with children within their own family, their protective instincts mean they require supervision with strangers. Due to their size and need for regular exercise and mental stimulation, Rottweilers are generally not ideal for apartment living and thrive in homes with secure yards. Health-wise, they can be predisposed to conditions such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as certain heart conditions, necessitating responsible breeding practices and regular veterinary check-ups.
