Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Meet Piper! This 4½-year-old pittie mix is full of love, energy, and personality—all she’s missing is her forever family. Piper came to us when her previous owner could no longer care for her, and she’s been thriving in her foster home near Binghamton, NY. She’s happiest as the only pet in the home (she likes being the queen ) and would do best with older kids who can keep up with her playful spirit. She’s spayed, fully vetted, housebroken, and crate trained—basically, the total package! Piper loves to run, play, and would make the perfect workout or adventure buddy. While she may be a little shy at first, once she trusts you, her goofy, affectionate side shines through. Piper is ready to trade her foster digs for a forever castle of her own. Could that be with you? Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
