Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog. Ripley has extememly high energy and is rarely in the house alone for 10 minutes! She is friendly, curious, and playful! She loves being with people, it's her favorite thing. She will happily take you for a walk. She will also point out every squirrel on the walk and lead you to them very quickly, so hang on! She’s intelligent and eager to please, making every day with her an adventure. This gem is fully housebroken, crate trained, and sleeps soundly through the night in her crate. She also does well on car rides, which makes for a fantastic travel companion. She loves every person she meets and will jump for joy when introduced. She is also working on her manners and responds well to several commands like Heel, Fetch, Down, Sit, Stay, and Come. She is quick to learn with a little encouragement and her favorite treats. Her foster family describes her as a people-focused sweetheart who loves to give kisses and soak up all the attention she can get. Whether it's a romp in the backyard, a walk around the neighborhood, or simply spending time with her humans, Ripley’s happiest moments are those spent with the people she loves. Ripley is showing a strong prey drive and enjoys keeping an eye on squirrels and deer, so a secure yard with a tall fence is a must. Her prey drive suggest she will not be good with cats. She is reactive to other dogs on walks. Her foster home knows this is a work in progress, especailly for anyone intersted in adopting her. Ripley’s enthusiasm for life is contagious, and her affectionate nature makes her an incredible companion. She would thrive in a home with people who are willing to continue her daily training, provide her with plenty of daily exercise, and give her all the love she deserves, everyday. If you’re looking for a loyal, intelligent, and playful pup who will fill your days with joy and laughter, Ripley might just be your perfect match. Come meet her and see why she’s ready to steal your heart! Ripley is: Energy Level 4-Shep on a Mission: This dog needs daily exercise, training, and play. They will need to be taught to settle. Overview:
The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
