Description
Dog Breed: Husky. Zeus (TX) is a male husky rescued from a breeder in Texas. Zeus is 2 years old at time of intake April 2025. It’s almost impossible not to fall in love with Zeus' blue eyes and goofy personality. Zeus is a big, beautiful, friendly, athletic boy. If you know anything about Huskies, this boy checks all the boxes. He has yet to meet a human or dog he doesn’t like (but no cats, please!) In fact, Zeus is more dog focused than human focused and for that reason, he'll be happiest going to a home with at least one dog sibling. He is fairly quiet overall for a husky, but if he sees another dog out walking and doesn’t get to say hi you may hear about it and so will the neighbors! True to his breed Zeus LOVES the snow and in the summer his favorite thing is playing in the kiddy pool. Zeus is such a special and silly boy who turns heads and makes friends wherever he goes! He'd love a home that can handle a dog his size, someone who is home often to keep him company, and with a doggie sibling to share in his fun. Please fill out an application to have her join your family today ! RDR's adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter/microchip at an RDR-approved facility, whether completed before adoption or if deferred because the pet is too young or has a medical issue. All pets are also current on age-appropriate vaccines at the time of adoption.

Breed overview
Siberian Husky
A.K.A.: Husky, Arctic Husky, Chukcha, Chukchi, Chukchi Sled Dog, Sibe, Sibes, Sled Dog, Snow Dog
Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
