Description
Dog Breed: Collie (long coat). Meet Duffy — a gorgeous young collie with a bright smile, a playful spirit, and so much love to give to the right family. Born on October 13, 2024, Duffy is still very much a puppy at heart. At home with the people and dogs he knows, he is affectionate, silly, and incredibly loving. He adores snuggling on the sofa, handing out enthusiastic kisses, and spending his days playing with his canine friends. He would absolutely thrive in a home with another young, playful dog and a large fenced yard where he can run, wrestle, and burn off his youthful energy. Duffy is also a smart and well-mannered boy. He is neutered, housebroken, well trained, and generally a wonderful house companion — though he does occasionally enjoy “redecorating” with any paper products he can find. Like many young dogs, he’s still discovering what counts as a toy! What Duffy truly needs, though, is a patient and understanding adopter. New people and unfamiliar environments can make him nervous, and he tends to express that uncertainty by barking. He is not aggressive at all, but he does need time, slow introductions, and consistency in order to feel safe and comfortable. Once he trusts you, his sweet and loyal personality shines through beautifully. Duffy is not the kind of dog who will walk into a new home and instantly act like he’s lived there forever. He’s the kind of dog whose trust is earned — and for the right person, that bond will be incredibly rewarding. Watching him grow in confidence and blossom into the happy, loving companion he wants to be is something very special. He’s also going to be absolutely stunning as he matures. Already tall and handsome, Duffy’s full collie coat is still coming in, and he is only getting more beautiful with age. Duffy is looking for a calm but active home, a playful dog companion, and people who understand that some sensitive dogs simply need a little extra time and patience. In return, he’ll give endless affection, loyalty, laughter, and love. If you are interested in rescuing a collie, please complete this short adoption questionnaire. Our standard adoption fee is $450. This fee helps us to cover (and sometimes only partially cover) the expense of providing each dog with a Health Exam, Rabies/DHPP vaccines, Heartworm Test, Heartworm Preventative, Flea & Tick Protection, Microchip, Neuter/Spay, a Bath and any other medical needs. Thank you for your consideration in adopting a collie in need!!!

Overview:
The Collie, a majestic and intelligent breed, originates from Scotland where they were primarily used for herding sheep. Known for their striking beauty, Collies typically possess a long, flowing double coat that comes in a variety of colors including sable and white, tricolor, and blue merle. They have a graceful, athletic build, with a distinctive long muzzle and expressive eyes. In terms of temperament, Collies are renowned for being incredibly loyal, gentle, and highly trainable, making them excellent companions. Their affectionate nature makes them particularly well-suited for families with children, though their need for moderate exercise means they thrive in homes with yards, rather than cramped apartment living. While generally a healthy breed, potential owners should be aware of a predisposition to certain conditions like Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA) and drug sensitivities. With proper care and training, a Collie will enrich any household with their devoted companionship and bright personality.
