Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie. Meet Baby Doll — a tiny sweetheart (5–6 years old, possibly a Cairn/Yorkie mix) patiently waiting for her forever home. Thought to have been discarded by a puppy mill before landing in a Georgia shelter, Baby Doll is ready to leave her past behind and start fresh with a family who will love her for life. She’s a gentle, curious girl who may be shy at first and hand-shy, but with time and kindness, her sweet personality shines through. Baby Doll has been learning how "to be a dog” in her foster home, taking cues from her two foster brothers and making steady, heart-warming progress. She’s pee-pad trained, great with other dogs, loves to quietly follow her people around, and does an adorable twirl when treats or puzzle toys appear. Baby Doll’s does have seizures which are well managed with medication every eight hours, and she’s otherwise ready to thrive. She’d do best in a calm home with patient adults and ideally another small dog to help boost her confidence. With gentle guidance and a loving routine, Baby Doll is ready to blossom into the devoted little companion she was always meant to be. RDR's adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter/microchip at an RDR-approved facility, whether completed before adoption or if deferred because the pet is too young or has a medical issue. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
