Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (short coat). Meet Sundae, a gentle lovebug who is as sweet as ice cream. Sundae is around 5 years old and 70 lb. • Gentle and Affectionate: Sundae’s signature move is to crawl into your lap for snuggles. She adores receiving pets, belly rubs, bear hugs, and kisses. She may give you a gentle lick in return! Her fur is soft like a bunny’s, so she is a joy to pet and nuzzle! • Mellow, Quiet, and Well-Behaved: Sundae is a mellow gal who walks gently on leash and never jumps. Although she loves physical affection, she is happy to let people come to her. She allows her foster parents to work from home and go about their activities without ever interfering or demanding attention. She is quiet, calm, and patient. • House-Trained & OK Left Solo: Sundae is house-trained. She sleeps soundly when left solo loose in a room (up to 8+ overnight). • A Joyful Heart: Although usually very mellow, Sundae can be playful and silly when you initiate play with her. She sometimes gets zoomies when she’s happy to see you, and will play with toys if you invite her to! This loving girl is being fostered in Oakland, and is adoptable from Pack Lyfe Rescue! A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
