Description

Dog Breed: Boxer (short coat). Adoption Fee: $427.50 includes all applicable MN sales tax. We found out about Sissy being in a shelter in southern Illinois, got all temperament information, posted for a foster, had a tentative plan, and committed to her. In the middle of getting a transport plan together, the shelter told us that Sissy is pregnant, about a month along. We let her foster family know and they did not hesitate...they said they would still foster her. She gave birth to six beautiful healthy pups, was a wonderful momma, then moved north to her foster home. 8/14/26: Sissy is an adorable girl, with a happy, sweet personality She loves everyone, gets on great with dogs and has lived with cats. She’s very easy going and undemanding and loves spending her hours outside keeping the backyard free of squirrels and bunnies! She’s a regular at the dog park where she runs like the wind- usually with a trail of dogs following hoping to get in on the fun! Morning walks are also a favorite though she’s not the greatest on the leash as yet. All’s good until a squirrel appears and she can’t quite resist the chase. But she’s improved so much and really tries to get it right. She’s very smart, a really quick learner and so eager to please. Sissy is a model of good behavior in the house. She’s free to roam and perfectly behaved when left alone all day (though she is crate trained). She’s not food motivated so doesn’t counter surf.. She’s ready for bed once it gets dark and can happily stay there in the morning even after you get up! She is quite an independent dog and doesn’t need constant attention or need to be with you all the time, though she never turns down an outing or car ride. Sissy would love an active family with a fenced yard as she really loves to be outside -at least in good weather! She would be fine as an only dog but would also do well with another dog. Because she’s quite physical when playing she would be better in a home without young children. She would do best with an outlet for her energy, so visits to a dog park or other area where she can run, or having regular play dates with another likeminded dog would be a big plus"

Boxer

A.K.A.: Deutscher Boxer, German Boxer, Dutch Boxer, Boxer dog, Boxy, Boxerman
Overview:

The Boxer is a medium-sized, short-haired dog breed of German origin, known for its distinctive appearance and vibrant personality. Physically, Boxers possess a strong, athletic build with a characteristic square head, an undershot jaw, and often a docked tail and cropped ears (though these practices are becoming less common). Their short, glossy coat typically comes in fawn or brindle, often with white markings. Temperamentally, Boxers are renowned for being incredibly loyal, intelligent, and energetic, making them fantastic companions for active families. They thrive on human interaction and can be playful and patient with children, making them excellent family pets. While their energy levels require regular exercise, their adaptability means they can adjust to apartment living if their activity needs are consistently met. However, potential owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including a predisposition to some cancers, heart conditions like cardiomyopathy, and hip dysplasia, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups.
