The sweetest slice of Love you will ever meet. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, easygoing best friend… Cantaloupe is your girl. She loves long walks, rolling around in fresh snow like it’s the greatest gift on earth, and yes, she TEARS STUFFIES TO SHREDS with pure joy (consider yourself warned ). It’s her art form. Her passion. Her calling. Beyond her impressive stuffie-destruction skills, Cantaloupe is truly one of the sweetest dogs you’ll ever meet. She adores being with her people, happily tags along with all of our volunteers, and is super easygoing. She walks beautifully on leash, loves car rides, enjoys her chewies and approved treats, and is simply content just being by your side. She’s the kind of dog who just wants to love and be loved. Cantaloupe is currently at our shelter and although she has been in foster care with other dogs, we’ve learned is that she truly thrives when she doesn’t have to share her people. She bonds deeply and would do best as the one and only dog in the home, where she can soak up all the attention and be your devoted shadow. She doesn’t need canine siblings… she just needs you. Cantaloupe has unfortunately suffered from severe allergies that went untreated for years before she was rescued. Her ears were in terrible shape, and she has already had a TECA surgery on one ear thanks to the rescue. She’s now on a special diet and medications to help heal and manage her remaining ear — and here’s the important part: The rescue is committed to paying for her medications and special food to support her in her forever home. Her allergies do not define her. They just mean she needs someone willing to give her the chance she has always deserved. Cantaloupe is truly the perfect companion — gentle, affectionate, loyal, and endlessly sweet. She just needs someone to see past her medical history and see the incredible heart she has to offer. Originating from designer breed efforts to combine the intelligence of the German Shepherd with the Labrador's friendly disposition, these dogs typically boast a medium to large build with a dense, weather-resistant coat that can range in color. Physically, they often exhibit the Shepherd’s strong bone structure and the Lab’s kind eyes. Temperamentally, Shepradors are generally intelligent, loyal, and trainable, making them excellent companions for active families. They thrive on human interaction and do best in homes with a yard, as their energy levels make apartment living challenging without significant daily exercise. While generally healthy, potential health considerations include hip and elbow dysplasia, common to both parent breeds, and eye conditions. Early socialization and consistent training are key to fostering a well-adjusted Sheprador.
