Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed. Oreo is 5 months old, loves dressing up, being adored, and being part of everything her people do! Oreo’s favorite things are meals, playtime and she loves to nap on the train like a tiny commuter pro. If she isn’t snuggled into your side or on your lap, she’s probably curled up next to her doggie foster who is her BFF! She’s gentle, affectionate, smart, and more calm than chaotic. Moderate energy with short bursts of zoomies, then right back to lounging like a baby seal. Kids? She’s sweet and polite. Dogs? She can coexist and play beautifully, especially with pups who help her learn boundaries, but she’d also be perfectly happy as the one-and-only pup in the home getting all the attention! Cats and city critters? Completely unbothered. Oreo is housetrained, loves being talked to on walks, and is working on feeling braver outside (loud noises are still a lot for her). Indoors she settles easily, follows you like a shadow, and soaks up affection like it’s her job! Adopt her at rescuecity.nyc/adopt

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
