Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. To complete an adoption application, click here: /forms/form?formid=5879 TJ (or “Teej” as his foster mom calls him) is a fun-loving, happy boy who wants nothing more than someone to make him the center of their world. TJ can be shy when first meeting new people, but he warms up quickly and once he feels safe, his happy personality shines. TJ thrives around other dogs and would be happiest with a doggie playmate. TJ is gentle-hearted and cuddly. He adores and seeks attention from the people he loves. TJ loves toys – especially balls and bones. He also loves a good game of tug-of-war and chase with other pups. If you have cats, TJ wants you to know he respects their boundries. He lives with cats in his foster home. TJ is a tripod. He may be missing his left rear leg, but you wouldn’t know it by the way he zooms around the backyard. TJ can jump up on a bed or couch by himself if the bed isn’t too high. He is housebroken, kennel trained, and knows sit. We can’t say enough good things about TJ the love bug. If you’re looking for a sweet boy who loves other dogs, TJ just might be the dog for you. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
