Description

Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog (long coat). Adoption Fee: $500. Henry is a sweet, affectionate 2-year-old male German shepherd mix with a heart as big as his love for playtime. Henry weighs 65 pounds of love and sweetness and adores his toys, especially his ball, which he could happily chase for hours. Henry is Timid around new people at first, but warms up with patience & kindness, revealing his gentle, loyal nature. He would do best as the only dog where he can soak up all the attention & return it tenfold with cuddles, play, & devoted companionship. Henry was rescued from a high-kill shelter on the day he was scheduled to be euthanized. He has had training while with his foster family, and continues to gain confidence and will thrive once in a loving home, and is the only dog. Henry is neutered, received his wellness exam, fecal test, and is current on his vaccinations. He’s packed with his favorite toys and balls and is looking forward to fun adventures with his forever family. Adopt Sweet and loyal Henry!! German Shepherd Dog

A.K.A.: Alsatian, Alsatian Wolf Dog, Shepherd Dog, GSD, Deutscher Schäferhund, Schäferhund, Berger Allemand, Pastore Tedesco, Perro de Pastor Alemán, Alsatian Dog
Overview:

The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
