He was found wandering a rural neighborhood in Georgia, searching for food, shelter, and a safe place to rest. In a moment of quiet hope, Zeus found his way onto the farm of one of our amazing fosters, where he quickly made friends with their dogs and showed just how special he is. That’s when the foster family knew they had to step in to give him the second chance he deserved and asked SNARR if we could help. Zeus is a truly sweet boy with a gentle soul. He can be a little shy when meeting new people at first, but once he feels safe and comfortable, his affectionate and loving personality shines through. With patience and kindness, Zeus warms up quickly and forms strong bonds. He absolutely loves making new canine friends and does great with other dogs. He’s also completely unfazed by the barn cats on the property, showing just how easygoing he can be. His foster mom describes him as an "angel" who is well behaved and sits patiently waiting for his food when it's mealtime. Now, Zeus is dreaming of a forever home—a place where he can finally feel secure, loved, and part of a family of his own. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
