Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua / Jack Russell Terrier / Mixed. Adoption Fee: 450. Amaryllis is a gentle, affectionate girl who will make a wonderful family and companion pet. While she is still building trust with people, she has already made beautiful progress in just a few weeks. Amaryllis may be shy about being carried or leaving her kennel on her own, but once she’s with you, her sweet personality comes through. She wags her tail, gives face kisses, and enjoys quiet affection. She does well with other small dogs and is comfortable being around them. Amaryllis would thrive in a patient home willing to give her time to build trust and form strong bonds. She barks at cats but keeps her distance. With love, consistency, and understanding, Amaryllis will blossom into a loyal and loving companion. She just needs someone willing to let her go at her own pace. Amaryllis is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 02/07/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 8:30am and noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. More About Jack Chi BreedOverview:
The Jack Chi is a delightful designer breed, a cross between the spirited Chihuahua and the energetic Jack Russell Terrier. Originating from the desire to combine the best traits of both parents, this hybrid typically inherits a compact size, weighing between 8-18 pounds and standing 10-15 inches tall. Their physical appearance varies, often featuring a short, smooth coat in colors like black, white, tan, or a combination, with alert, intelligent eyes. Temperamentally, Jack Chis are known for being playful, intelligent, and loyal companions. They possess the Chihuahua's affectionate nature and the Jack Russell's zest for life, making them engaging pets. While adaptable to apartment living due to their smaller stature, they require regular exercise and mental stimulation to prevent boredom and destructive behaviors. They can be good with families who understand their need for consistent training and socialization, especially with younger children. Notable health considerations for the Jack Chi include potential predispositions to conditions seen in their parent breeds, such as patellar luxation, dental issues, and heart problems, highlighting the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
