Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. Meet Priscilla (GA): a gentle, sunloving soul who survived the unthinkable and still chooses love. Some dogs carry stories that are heavy, but hearts that are impossibly light. Priscilla, a beautiful 9yearold Pit Bull Terrier (as of January 2026), is one of those rare souls. She came into rescue as the victim of a cruelty case — painfully thin, carrying a large tumor on her lower jaw, and having endured far more than any dog should. And yet, even then, she greeted the world with soft eyes, quiet warmth, and a hopefulness that feels almost sacred. Her tumor has since been removed, and now she’s ready for the chapter she has always deserved. Priscilla is a sweet, lowenergy girl who moves through life with calm grace. She loves people deeply and prefers a peaceful home without little kids, not because she’s unfriendly, but because she’s a quiet companion who keeps to herself and thrives in gentle, calm spaces. Her favorite place is anywhere she can stretch out in the sunshine, soaking in the warmth, or nestled beside her person giving and receiving soft kisses. She doesn’t mind other dogs at all, as long as they don’t expect her to play — she’s more of a “let’s just coexist peacefully” kind of girl. She has no prey drive, just a mellow, steady presence that makes her incredibly easy to love. She enjoys her walks and is working on her leash manners. She may pull a little at the beginning simply because she’s excited to be out exploring, but she settles quickly and truly loves the routine of going for a stroll. She’s foodmotivated but never pushy or aggressive, and she’s both crate trained and potty trained, making her an easy, comforting addition to any home. Priscilla doesn’t ask for much. She only needs her food, her water, her treats (of course), a warm place to nap, a sunny spot to bask in, and a person who will let her love them the way she was always meant to. She is, in every way, the sweetest dog — resilient, tender, and full of quiet affection. If you have room in your home — and your heart — for a dog who embodies courage, softness, and unwavering sweetness, Priscilla is waiting. Apply online to adopt at .rescuedogsrocknyc. Priscilla’s adoption fee is $300. Please be sure to reference this pet's name as Priscilla (GA) in case of duplicate names within the rescue. Thank you! RDR's adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter/microchip at an RDR-approved facility, whether completed before adoption or if deferred because the pet is too young or has a medical issue. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
