At 70 pounds, he’s a strong, athletic boy who’s ready to take on life with an active, committed family. Rufus is friendly, social, and very enthusiastic about people and the world around him. Sometimes his excitement can be a bit overwhelming, but it comes from a place of joy and curiosity. He still needs work on basics to reinforce commands like “come,” “sit” and “down.” With structure, patience, and positive reinforcement, Rufus has tons of potential to grow into a fantastic companion. Because of his high energy and strength, Rufus will do best with experienced, active adopters who can provide plenty of daily exercise, mental stimulation, and ongoing training. Although he will sit with you on the sofa, he’s not a couch-potato. He’s looking for someone who enjoys hiking, running or other activities that will burn off some of his energy. He’s ready to put his whole heart into a home that’s ready to do the same. Rufus is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and has completed treatment and recovery for heartworms. His adoption fee is $200 which includes six months of heartworm prevention.
