Description
Dog Breed: Dachshund / Pembroke Welsh Corgi / Mixed (medium coat). **Charlie a Dachshund-Corgi mix male** Charlie and Cody are gentle, reserved brothers, about 13 months old, and both have been neutered. They came to the shelter with their two sisters and their mother. After being separated from the females, the two brothers formed a close bond. Now, they are becoming more affectionate and are starting to enjoy life in the Pacific Northwest. Charlie is slowly learning to trust people. We can now gently stroke his head and neck, and he is getting more used to being touched. Charlie is safe, well-fed, comfortable, up to date on his vaccinations, and has no known health problems. All five dogs from this family are ready to find new homes. Charlie has a curious personality. He is the only one of the 5 pups who talks a lot. This is how he communicates. If Charlie wants pets, he will ask for them. In the morning, when he says hello, he makes a sound to greet you. Coming in from the store, he will greet you, tail wagging and chatting with happiness. His foster parents misunderstood the talking as aggression, but now that he knows we understand him and respond, he is thrilled to be acknowledged. Charlie just wants to be his people's best buddy! Charlie has settled into the rescue center. Because there are many wild animals nearby, we have not yet been able to train Charlie to use a harness or go for walks on a leash. We hope the brothers can be adopted together into a home with a fenced yard, so they have a safe place to go outside and can learn to walk on a harness and leash. Cody and Charlie may be shy at first, but they are curious and want to connect with people. They love treats and will take them from your hand. They also enjoy being spoken to and respond well to a gentle voice. With time, patience, and love, they will become loyal companions. We prefer adopters who have experience with shy or untrained dogs or who are open to guidance to help the boys adjust to their new home. We are not sure if any of these dogs have been around children, so we suggest a home without kids or with children over 12. The Corgi-Dachshund mix, also called a “Dorgi,” was first bred by Queen Elizabeth of the UK. Because they have a prey drive, they should not live with small animals or cats. **Adopting Charlie ** The adoption fee for Charlie is $450. If you adopt both Charlie and Cody together, the bonded pup fee is $595, which includes neutering, all vaccines, and a microchip. After we receive your application, someone from our team will contact you to talk about Charlie and answer any questions. We may also set up a virtual or in-person home visit to make sure it is a good fit for you and Charlie. If all goes well, we will help you with the final steps of the adoption process. Thank you for considering giving Charlie a loving home. .smallpupsrescue

Breed overview
Overview:
The Dorgi is a charming designer breed, a delightful cross between the spunky Dachshund and the intelligent Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Originating from a royal connection, as Queen Elizabeth II was known to own several, this hybrid typically boasts a medium-length, dense coat, often displaying colors like black and tan, sable, or red. Physically, they possess the long body of a Dachshund with the sturdy, shorter legs and expressive face of a Corgi. Temperamentally, Dorgis are known for being affectionate, playful, and generally good-natured, making them excellent companions. They adapt well to various living situations, including apartments, provided they receive regular walks and mental stimulation. Their moderate exercise needs make them suitable for families and individuals alike. While generally healthy, potential health concerns can include back problems due to their elongated spine and joint issues, inherited from their parent breeds, emphasizing the importance of responsible breeding and care.
