Description
Dog Breed: Pug (short coat). Adorable senior pug Johnny arrived at an animal shelter in northern Indiana. Johnny was brought in as a stray and his history is unknown. His foster can tell you that Johnny was loved by someone in his past because he is the sweetest little guy! Johnny LOVES people, naps, and laps! All this little man wants is to be with a human. As he has settled into is foster home, it turns out that Johnny would love most to be an only dog! Johnny had a dentistry and had 15 teeth extracted. He really didn’t have very many left in his mouth in the first place, so either soaked kibble or wet food is best for him! Johnny’s bloodwork was all good and the veterinarian said he was in good health. Johnny has a weak back end and therefore has a hard time on slippery floors, and he can’t really tell that he has to go “number two” until it is actually happening. He loves to go potty outside, but sometimes has accidents in the house. His foster has been using a belly wrap on him which is working great. Johnny is sweet as pie, but can be a little jealous of his foster's other pugs if they try to sit on her lap while he is sitting with her. Johnny does hang out in an exercise pen while is foster is at work with no issues. If you are looking for the bestest snuggle bunny pug, Johnny is going to be perfect for you!

Overview:
The Pug, a charming and ancient breed, boasts a fascinating history believed to originate in China as early as 206 BC. Known for its distinctive flat, wrinkled face, large, expressive eyes, and tightly curled tail, the Pug's compact, muscular build is instantly recognizable. Despite their somewhat serious expression, Pugs are famously friendly, playful, and affectionate companions, often described as "clowns" due to their comedic antics. Their relatively low exercise requirements and adaptability make them excellent pets for apartment dwellers and devoted family members, thriving on human companionship. However, prospective owners should be aware of certain health considerations, primarily their susceptibility to respiratory issues due to their brachycephalic (short-nosed) structure, as well as potential eye problems and joint conditions. With proper care and attention, the Pug offers years of unwavering loyalty and delightful companionship.
