Name: Spartacus Best Guess for Breed: Shepherd and beagle mix Best Guess for Age: 5 months as of 1/23/2026 SEX: Male Approximate Weight: 23 pounds as of 1/23/2026; he is still growing! Gets Along With: Other dogs!We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living at: South Carolina shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get up here. Special adoption considerations: Spartacus is a shy older puppy. He needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog who will show him the ropes. Spartacus is Looking For: This sweetie is at the tail end of puppyhood - and because he didn't get the awesomest start to life before landing in the shelter, he is shy right now. He wants nothing more than to trot through life with all the confidence of a well-loved dog! To get there, he needs extra patient and loving adopters who will help show him the world at his pace - and a welcoming resident dog who will show him how to dog. He really is a sweetie who wants nothing more than to love and be loved, to know where he belongs.
