Description
Dog Breed: Alaskan Malamute. Hanny is a three-year-old female Siberian Husky with a sweet, energetic spirit. She loves long walks, running, and happily entertaining herself with toys. Hanny does wonderfully with children and gets along well with other dogs, while also appreciating when her personal space is respected. An active home with a spacious yard would be her dream setup, making her a perfect match for a fun-loving, on-the-go family looking for a loyal and lively companion. This dog is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed or neutered. (Please note: Puppies under 3 months old may not be sterilized prior to adoption. If this is the case, your adoption coordinator will provide guidance on the process.) To adopt or learn more about this dog, you must complete an adoption application, which can be found on our website: .sandypawsrescue. PLEASE READ: • If a dog or puppy is listed, they are currently available for adoption. However, they may already be pending an adoption, and their profile may not yet reflect this. • All information is accurate to the best of our knowledge as of the posting date. • Unless explicitly stated, Sandy Paws Rescue does not guarantee the breed of any dog. Breeds listed are educated guesses made by shelter staff, volunteers, or veterinarians. Many of our dogs are mixed breeds, often with pit bull-type genetics, resulting in a wide variety of physical traits and temperaments. Our dogs come from various situations, such as kill shelters, owner surrenders, or as strays. It is likely both parents were mixed breeds as well. Sandy Paws Rescue does not have a public shelter in Massachusetts. Our dogs reside in private foster homes or boarding kennels in the South until adopted. Many dogs are spoken for prior to transport or release from state-mandated isolation. For information on adoption fees, procedures, or FAQs, visit our website: .sandypawsrescue. The FIRST step in adopting from Sandy Paws Rescue is to submit a completed adoption application.

Breed overview
Alaskan Malamute
A.K.A.: Mal, Mally, Malamute, Sno-Go-Malamute, Alaskan Sled Dog, Sled Dog, Arctic Sled Dog, Mahlemut, Moyle Sled Dog, Husky Malamute
Overview:
The Alaskan Malamute is a powerful and ancient arctic breed, originating from the Mahlemut Inupiaq people of Alaska, where they were indispensable for hauling heavy sleds and assisting hunters. Physically, they are a large, robust spitz-type dog, easily recognizable by their thick double coat (typically grey and white, or red and white), strong build, and often striking dark almond-shaped eyes that convey an intelligent and gentle expression. Temperamentally, Malamutes are known for being affectionate, loyal, and playful with their families, but also possess an independent streak and a strong prey drive. While generally good with children when properly socialized, their size and strength necessitate supervision. They are definitely not suited for apartment living due to their high energy levels and need for ample exercise; a home with a secure yard and active owners is ideal. Regarding health, common concerns include hip and elbow dysplasia, bloat, and certain eye conditions. Potential owners should be prepared for their grooming needs and commitment to consistent training.
