Name - Louie> Age - 2 50 lbs.> Colors - black & white>>> When I first found Louie, he was wandering around a gas station > freezing and missing tufts of fur from malnutrition. We got> him healthy and he has been a crucial part of our home since. I have> two german shepherds and a rottweiler mix (also a stray we picked up)> already at the house. We took time to integrate him into our home, and> once we did, he fit like a glove. He loves chewing on his benebones> right next to his sister, or taking a nap on top of his brother. The> boys love to run around our fenced in backyard and bark at passing> cars. He loves chasing balls, and is very good about dropping them as> soon as he brings them back so the playing doesn't have time to stop.> He is an extremely sweet and cuddly dog. Once he learned he could jump> on our bed, he tries to sleep in between me and my fiance every night.> He loves to ball up in between my legs when I'm lying in bed or sneak> his way up to my pillow to lie belly up. > He is good with people and dogs. He can get possessive around male> dogs when food/toys are close, and he has snapped on our other male> dogs before but only in high energy situations such as when friends> are over or new toys introduced. It is probably best for him to be in> a house without other male dogs.> He is crate and house trained - we are going to work on the leash. Louie is a boy who is wonderful to have in our home, but we have too many dogs already, and we feel that Louie deserves a home in which love and cuddling could be devoted to him. He's great. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
