Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler (medium coat). KINGSLEY — Tripod Sweetheart Seeking His Forever Home Kingsley is a brave, loving adult dog rescued from one of the reservations we work with. A young girl saved his life, but sadly she cannot safely keep him. Kingsley is now an amputee (missing his left hind leg), and we are determined to find him the stable, loving home he deserves. Despite everything he’s been through, Kingsley is incredibly affectionate and gentle. He loves having his ears, neck, chest, and back scratched — all the places he can’t easily reach anymore. He thrives on companionship, enjoys exploring at his own pace, and nothing makes him happier than a soft bed and a human to lean into for hugs. Reduced adoption fee! Kingsley is about 4 years old, medium-sized, with a soft medium-length coat and the most soulful, loving eyes. He gets along with dogs, but he would also be perfectly content as a devoted human companion. His adoption fee includes neutering, vaccinations, deworming, and microchip. Our rescue covered all veterinary costs for his surgery. Reduced adoption fee due to his special needs! We are seeking a committed adopter in the Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, White Rock, or Los Alamos area. If you feel a connection to Kingsley and can offer him the safe, loving forever home he deserves, please email DesertPawsNMgmail to check availability. After approval, we bring Kingsley to your home to meet all family members — including current pets — to ensure the smoothest transition. Kingsley has already survived so much. Now he just needs someone to love him for the rest of his life.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
