Description
Dog Breed: Cattle Dog / Mixed (medium coat). DAISY & FOLEY — A Bonded Pair of Best Friends Daisy and Foley met in rescue as older puppies, and from that moment on, they chose each other. They have been inseparable ever since. Daisy is deaf and has beautiful blue eyes. When she comes inside from bright sunlight, it can take her a moment to adjust her vision — but she navigates the world with confidence thanks to her devoted best friend. Foley (whose fur is unbelievably soft) naturally stepped into the role of Daisy’s “guide dog.” She lets Daisy know when it’s time to go in or out, helps her stay oriented, and is always right by her side. They play and explore together. Their bond is truly something special to witness. Because they must be adopted together — and because Daisy has special needs — these girls have been waiting in rescue for five years. They have been loved and cared for, but what they deserve most is a home of their own. Patience, kindness, and a safe environment will help them continue to blossom together. About Daisy & Foley - *Spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, they are 5-6 yrs old *Crate trained *Affectionate with people (may be shy at first) *Good with other calm, respectful dogs - their current favorite buddy is a mellow older male shepherd. They also loved a very playful male hippo. And a male blue heeler. *Love to play, explore the yard, and be near their humans *Because Daisy cannot hear when another animal has had enough, she should not live with puppies, cats, or very small dogs. The Home They Need: *Patient, loving humans *A secure, safe environment *Willingness to give them time to warm up *Commitment to keeping them together always To ensure a smooth transition, we are seeking homes in the Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Los Alamos, White Rock, or Rio Rancho areas. Adoption Process: *Online application *Photos/video of living areas for the dogs *Phone or Zoom conversation *We bring Daisy & Foley to meet you, your family, and any resident pets *Follow-up updates (we love seeing them thrive!) Both girls are fully vetted and crate trained. A reduced adoption fee is available for this beautiful bonded pair. Could You Be Their Person? If you feel your home might be the safe haven they’ve been waiting for, please email: DesertPawsNMgmail Daisy and Foley have already rescued each other. Now they’re hoping for a human or family to complete their circle of love :-)

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
