Description
Dog Breed: Cattle Dog / Mixed. Adoption Fee: 150. Meet Henry… but my friends call me Jim I’m a 1½-year-old Australian Cattle Dog mix with adorably awkwardly long legs and a heart full of love. I can be a little nervous with new things at first, but I adjust quickly once I know I’m safe. Give me a little patience and you’ll see my sweet, playful personality shine. I’m still young, so I’ve got that fun, happy energy — and yes, sometimes my long legs have a mind of their own! A few things about me: Slightly shy at first, but warm up quickly Not a big fan of car rides Love other dogs and would do best with a furry sibling Great with kids of all ages Loyal, affectionate, and ready to be someone’s best friend If you’re looking for a sweet, goofy boy with long legs and lots of love to give, I might be your perfect match Could your home be my forever one? Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
