He is potty trained and would thrive in a home with easy outdoor access or a doggy door. Herman enjoys going for walks, playing with his toys, a good game of fetch, and tagging along for car rides. Herman had a difficult start in life and will need a patient, understanding adopter who will give him the time he needs to build trust. Because of his past, he can be reactive when there are a lot of dogs or people around, but he responds well to guidance and will benefit from continued training with an experienced handler. Once Herman feels safe, his sweet and affectionate personality truly shines. He forms strong bonds with his people and loves being part of the family. Herman would do best as the only dog in a quiet, adult-only home where he can feel secure and continue building confidence. If you’re looking for a loyal and low shedding companion and are willing to give Herman the patience and love he deserves, he will reward you with endless devotion. Herman is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on his vaccines. His adoption fee is $300. All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption. Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog. Fees help Second Chance Dog Rescue cover spay/neuter costs, vaccinations, medical treatments, food and supplies. Please go to .secondchancedogrescue and complete an application today! All dogs live in private foster homes until they are adopted.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
