Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Adoption Fee: 200. Stanley is a big guy weighing 83 pounds and believed to be between 1-2 years old. He is an energetic dog who will do best in a home with an active family and other dogs that can match his energy and enjoy rough housing and chasing each other. He is kennel trained and walks well on a leash. He is neutered, heartworm negative and on prevention. He is current on vaccines including rabies and he is microchipped. Stanley is a big young goofy boy who loves his people and loves being loved. He LOVES toys and he's eager to please. He is very smart but could use work on learning some basic commands. He is currently in a foster home with several other dogs. I do believe he would thrive in a home with more one on one attention. He does NOT like cats but does well with most other dogs. He is really a good boy who deserves a home of his own.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
