Description
Dog Breed: Terrier (medium coat). Meet Lolli! This sassy budding senior was given away after her owner passed away. Only a few months later, she was found wandering as a stray with long nails, sparse fur, and sores from scratching. A good Samaritan took her in and posted on social media, hoping to find her family. She was able to track them down, but sadly, they didn't want her back. It's heartbreaking how disposable dogs can be to some people, but we're grateful for the chance to help this sweet girl find the loving forever home she truly deserves. Lolli is currently being fostered by Renee alongside her sweet pup, Ryder, who is always welcoming to new foster dogs. Lolli did great with Ryder from the start and enjoys following him around the yard. She also loves Renee's grandsons (ages 9 and 11) and is always happy to spend time with them when they visit. Renee describes Lolli as an incredibly sweet girl who loves to snuggle and give kisses. She's happiest curled up on your lap or snuggled next to you in bed at night, but she's also up for walks and has great leash manners. She does get excited when it's time to go out, but with a quick leash correction, she settles right down and happily strolls around the neighborhood. Lolli has been the perfect houseguest with impeccable manners. She has never had an accident in her foster home, and her foster mom hasn't needed to crate her and trusts her to roam freely. Lolli will go to the door when she needs to go outside and will politely let you know if she needs something with her cute little bark. Like any self-respecting terrier, Lolli will alert you when someone comes to the door, but she's very friendly with visitors. She has a laid-back energy level and would do well either as an only dog or with another dog who shares her easygoing vibe. This adorable scruffy girl deserves better than she's had, and we know her best days are still ahead. Apply today! Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
