Description
Dog Breed: Great Dane (short coat). Mia was born about August 20, 2025 and will likely top out in the 125 weight range with the possibility of less or more. Mia is somewhat timid at first which may be inherited or may be because she was not well socialized outside her home/yard as a puppy. Here we are widening her horizons, but likely going forward her next home will need to work on this behavior also. She is with us because an elderly woman heard Danes were laid back and felt her home would be perfect for one of these giant babies. She is doing really well with the other dogs and plays SO nicely even with the dogs that are much smaller and in the 35# range. I'd hesitate this goofy, clumsy, large girl interacting much with the tiny dogs of the world. She did live with a couple of cats and wanted to play which the cats didn't think was much fun. She has been with children 7 months to 12 years and was fine yet again, those little ones may get knocked over by accident. Mia is house trained and goes out and barks when ready to come back in. Here she learned the dog door within a day - smart girl! Mia is very good on car rides and enjoys going places with her humans. Actually, she just ADORES her humans and is your typical Dane leaner and will say right around you. She was fine on leash as a pup but as she grew it was more difficult for the lady to get her out and it didn't helpl that it was winter and, thankfully, she had a fenced yard to stretch her legs in. Mia enjoys chasing balls and does bring them back to you so you'll keep playing. She does love toys and doesn't even unstuff the stuffies. She was crated at first but when she outgrew it there was no more need for a new one. Truly, she is a wonderful young lady that is going to flourish in the right home which is a home that has some giant breed knowledge. The Adoption Fee for this dog is $__600.00__. Overview:
The Great Dane is an impressive and regal breed, often dubbed the "Apollo of Dogs" for its dignified stature and noble appearance. Originating in Germany, where it was historically bred for hunting boar, this giant breed is renowned for its immense size and striking presence. Physically, Great Danes are characterized by their tall, muscular build, short coat (available in various colors like fawn, brindle, black, blue, and harlequin), and expressive eyes. Despite their formidable size, they possess a surprisingly gentle and affectionate temperament, making them wonderful family companions. They are known for being patient with children and generally get along well with other pets. While their size might suggest otherwise, Great Danes can adapt to apartment living if provided with sufficient daily exercise, as they are not overly energetic indoors. However, prospective owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including a predisposition to bloat (gastric dilatation-volvulus), hip dysplasia, and certain heart conditions, necessitating careful breeding and regular veterinary check-ups. Overall, a Great Dane offers a loving and loyal addition to the right home.
