Description
Dog Breed: Cattle Dog / Eskimo Spitz / Mixed. Jasper is an energetic and smart 18 month old cattle dog mix. He is a very handsome boy, mostly white with some brown markings, including a heart shaped spot on his left side. He weighs 45 pounds. He has been neutered and chipped, and is up to date on shots. He has done basic and intermediate training at PetSmart and knows sit, paw, focus, push up, touch and leave it. He loves to run and play with other dogs his size and does not steal their balls. He loves to go for car rides (he happily uses a seat belt in the back seat) to get Pup Cups at Starbucks. He also loves to go for walks near the beach or on trails. He would be happy with a home where he has room to run and one or more people who like to hike or run. He has a tendency to try to herd small kids so older kids would be better. He doesn’t guard food or toys but can be a little protective of his people. Interested in adopting this pet? Please contact us at questionsawishforanimals for more info.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
