Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: $350. YOU MUST COMPLETE A BEST FRIEND PET ADOPTION APPLICATION TO BE CONSIDERED TO ADOPT POPPY. Please apply at: toolkit.rescuegroups/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC Meet Poppy, a special girl who’s ready to find the a forever home where she can truly shine She’s a house-trained, crate-trained pup who already has a great foundation for home life. While she’s comfortable in a crate, she happily spends most of her time out and about, enjoying being part of the household. She loves to walk and is so excited she will pull at the start but then relaxes. She has a moderate energy level, making her a great match for someone who enjoys daily activity and playtime. At home, Poppy is generally a quiet companion, only speaking up when she notices someone passing by. She’s lived successfully with a cat and has shown she can coexist peacefully with feline friends. With adults she does well, we have not seen her around children. Poppy’s relationship with other dogs is good once she is properly introduced and has time to adjust. On walks she will bark at unfamiliar dogs but she has improved greatly. She would love a home with a fenced yard so she can run and play. She would thrive as an only dog or in a home with an experienced owner who can manage introductions. This sweet girl is looking for someone patient and understanding—someone who can give her the stability and love she deserves. In return, she’ll be a faithful companion who just needed the right chance to feel at home. Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed. We prefer applicants who live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
