Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). PLEASE NOTE: This dog is courtesy posted for another individual or Rescue. Different policies and fees may apply. Meet Brutus Brutus is a 5-year-old German Shepherd currently living at a boarding facility in Phoenix, Arizona after his owner was no longer able to care for him. He’s now looking for a loving home where he can finally be part of a family again Brutus is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, potty trained, and crate trained. He has a wonderful personality—playful, affectionate, and walks great on leash. He knows “sit,” takes treats gently, and loves spending time with his people. One of his favorite things to do is play fetch He has done well with dogs his size or bigger, but would do best in a home without small dogs or cats. His experience with kids is unknown. Brutus is a stunning, handsome German Shepherd who deserves so much more than life in boarding. He’s ready to leave the kennel behind and find a home to call his own Adopt Brutus: .shelterluv/matchme/adopt/FPP/Dog

Overview:
The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
