Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). Adoption Fee: $300.00. Peanut is a sweet little senior chihuahua who lost his human parents and the son asked us if we could take him and his fur brother because he didn't want them and was returning to Tennessee. We took those sweet boys and got their shots updated and they are now ready to be adopted into their own furever homes. They get along with other dogs and do ok around cats. They love children and people. Peanut is a little leery when he first meets new people but with treats and love he comes around quickly. He is definitely a lap baby and just wants someone he can curl up with and watch TV or go for walks :) All of our adoptable animals are up to date on routine vaccinations, microchipped and spayed or neutered. If the animal is too young a certificate for the spay/neuter is included in the adoption fee. Please Click Here to complete our online adoption application. We are open to the public from 10 AM to 3 PM on the first three Saturdays of every month, unless otherwise noted on our website or Facebook page. Private appointments to visit and meet the animals can be scheduled with an approved application. The Chihuahua, a captivating breed known for its diminutive size, boasts an ancient and somewhat mysterious origin, with most theories pointing to Mexico as its birthplace, potentially descending from the "Techichi," a small companion dog of the Toltec civilization. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their small, compact bodies, large expressive eyes, and erect ears, appearing in both smooth and long-coated varieties, showcasing a vast array of colors and markings. Despite their tiny stature, Chihuahuas possess a big personality; they are often described as spirited, alert, and fiercely loyal to their owners, sometimes displaying a bold and confident demeanor. While their small size makes them exceptionally well-suited for apartment living, they thrive in homes where they receive ample attention and mental stimulation. They can be good family pets for older children who understand how to interact gently with a small dog, but their delicate build makes them less suitable for boisterous toddlers. Regarding health, Chihuahuas can be prone to certain conditions like patellar luxation, heart problems, and dental issues, making regular veterinary check-ups crucial for their well-being.
