Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (short coat). Pebbles is a 2-year-old, 44 lb hound mix who is still figuring out the world and has the sweetest soul. When she first meets new people or experiences, she can be a little timid and unsure, she just has not been exposed to everything yet. Give her a little time, gentle reassurance, and a few treats, and you will see her completely light up. Once Pebbles knows you, she turns into a happy, playful, tail wagging goofball. She loves treats, enjoys her Nylabones, and will happily cover you in kisses when she feels safe. She is the kind of dog who forms a deep bond and will be incredibly loyal to her person. Pebbles also loves other dogs and gets genuinely excited to see them, so she would do great with a canine buddy or make new doggy friends. She has a moderate energy level and would do best with regular walks or a yard, along with a home that will help her build confidence and explore the world at her own pace. Pebbles is looking for a home that will give her patience, love, reassurance, and a safe place to come out of her shell. She just needs someone willing to go slow and show her that the world is not so scary. And when she warms up, you get the zoomies, the kisses, and her goofy playful side. If you are looking for a sweet, sensitive girl who will love you endlessly, Pebbles might be your perfect match.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
