Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Felicity — lovingly known as City — is the definition of a comeback queen. She came to us from the euthanasia list at Associated Humane Societies – Newark, where she was a total volunteer favorite and even built her own little fan club on TikTok. The moment you meet her, you’ll understand why. City is 2 yrs old and 63 pounds of pure love wrapped up in a “20-pound lap dog” mindset. She gives the kind of full-body hugs that melt your stress away and believes kisses are a mandatory part of every interaction. If you’re sitting, she’s climbing in. If you’re standing, she’s leaning in. Loving her people is her full-time job — and she takes it very seriously. If you look at her, expect her to bat those irreresistible lashes. This girl is smart, athletic, and playful. She’s lightning fast when she runs and would thrive with someone who enjoys outdoor adventures, games of fetch, and watching her zoom around with joy. She loves car rides, pup cups, and yes — eating snow like it’s the greatest delicacy on earth. She’s recently discovered her voice and will “talk” to you in the cutest way possible when she has something to say. City is crate-trained, sleeps soundly in her crate, is a fantastic eater, and enjoys treats, puzzles, and enrichment. She knows her basic commands and is eager to keep learning — especially if snacks are involved. She’s wonderful with kids and incredibly affectionate. While City is not reactive to other dogs, she values her space and would do best as the only pet in the home. She wants her people (and her love) all to herself — and honestly, she deserves it. Felicity is sweet, joyful, loyal, and so ready for her forever home. After everything she’s been through, she’s looking for a family who will cherish her as much as she’ll cherish them. Trust us — once City loves you, she’s all in. If interested in adopting Felicity, please complete an application, which can be found on our website at .twentypawsrescue/forms-applications. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
