Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Hi, Iâm Yami and Iâm a big love bug with an even bigger personality I love to play, whether itâs with my favorite humans or a fun toy (bonus points if it helps me burn off some energy!). Iâm a smart boy who already knows âsitâ and âdown,â and Iâm super eager to keep learning, especially if it means making you proud. I can get a little excited on leash, but with some guidance, I know Iâll get the hang of it. More than anything, I just want a home where I can play, learn, and share all the love Iâve got. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
