Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler (short coat). Location: Rumford, ME Hello everyone, I would like to introduce you to Haley. She is a 10-year-old, spayed female looking for a special place to call home. Once she settles in and is given time to adjust, she is very sweet and affectionate. Haley’s background is largely unknown, but she was fortunately rescued after being brought to a clinic to be euthanized because her previous owners were moving. Her foster mom suspects she has been a high-energy dog with very little stimulation throughout her life, which can make new experiences challenging for her. The ideal home for Haley would have no children or cats. While she could potentially live with other dogs following a very slow and patient introduction, she should not be rushed. She is fully house-trained, knows basic obedience, and appreciates having a quiet, secluded place to relax. Since arriving at her foster home weighing 65 pounds, Haley has been on a weight-loss journey involving a strict diet and daily walks. Her fosters are also working on building her trust and confidence outdoors. If you have any questions about Haley, please feel free to reach out to her foster mom at heardingchaosgmail. You can also follow her progress on Instagram at hearding_chaos. Complete an Application: .acdra/adoption-application

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
