Description
Dog Breed: Cane Corso Mastiff. Meet Waldo — AZ Mastiff Rescue Waldo might just have the cutest ears we’ve ever seen. They are huge, floppy, and totally Dumbo-worthy. When the wind blows, those ears flap like he’s about to take off, and honestly, it’s hysterical. Behind those adorable ears is a very sweet puppy with a sad start. Waldo was abandoned, dumped, neglected, and came to us very under-socialized. Because of that, he will need a patient home that understands he needs time to decompress, settle in, and build confidence at his own pace. At this time, Waldo is on a medical hold until we feel he is fully ready for adoption, but in the meantime, he would absolutely love a foster home. Waldo loves other dogs and loves to play. He is active, silly, all puppy, and so grateful for the simple things — food, water, toys, and a soft bed to sleep in every night. He is quiet, not a big barker, and just a happy little soul who is finally learning what it feels like to be safe. Because of his rough start, no young toddlers for Waldo. He needs a calmer, patient home that will help him continue to grow into the confident, loved dog he was always meant to be. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
