Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Meet Finn, a Pit Bull born approx 12/2/24. Finn is a BIG, loyal boy with so much love (and kisses) to give. He is house trained and accustomed to a home with a fully fenced yard and an oversized dog door. Finn is also kennel trained, and his XL kennel can go with him to his forever home. Finn has had basic obedience training and would benefit from continued training to help build his confidence. He walks reasonably well on a leash, but due to his size, additional leash work will help him become an even better walking companion. He rides quietly in the car but can be nervous when getting in and during rides, so he’ll need a patient owner to help him feel more comfortable. At home, Finn is a wonderful mix of calm and cuddly, with bursts of playful energy. He loves attention and can get especially excited when meeting new people or after spending a few hours alone. Finn has been around both dogs and cats; he generally does well with other dogs but may be a bit too energetic for older or more laid-back companions. He may also chase cats. Finn enjoys durable chew toys like Nylabones and Benebones, and when he’s feeling anxious or bored, he has been known to sneak a shoe or two. Because of this, he’ll thrive in a home that provides structure, enrichment, and supervision. Finn would do best in a calmer environment with an experienced dog owner who can continue guiding him and build a strong, lasting bond. Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $425.00

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
