Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Señorita Saleta is spicy by name, and, well, sometimes spicy by nature. Meet Saleta, a beautiful girl with the biggest smile. She is a mixed breed pup who is estimated to be almost 2 years old. She still has that young pup look, making anyone who meets her swoon. Saleta weighs around 32 pounds, making her a great compact buddy. She will be just as happy cuddling on the couch as she will be running around the yard. Saleta would do best in a quiet, single-family home rather than an apartment or busy setting. She enjoys her time spent in the company of other dogs and adults. Her most suitable home would be one with dog-savvy children over the age of 12, and she would do best in a home with no feline friends. Saleta is a perfect mix of fun playtime adventures as well resting on the sofa for a cuddling session. She absolutely loves snuggles. Now to the spicy part. Saleta can get a bit overstimulated if there are lots of people, other dogs on leash, or distractions around her outside. She has just successfully completed a 4-week board and train program where she has learned to better regulate herself around new people, dogs, and other distractions. Saleta requires a confident owner who is committed to continuing to work with her on this training and a structured routine in her home. Although Saleta is successfully living in a foster home with other dogs, she requires slow and proper introductions with new dogs in order for her to thrive. Saleta has mastered her house training and crate training. Her leash training is in progress, and she is committed to working on it. Saleta is the most smiley and happy girl who shows that with her whole body. She aims to please and is extremely treat-motivated. Are you ready for a dog that will provide the perfect mix of sweet and spicy to your life? Saleta is waiting for the perfect home with an owner who will commit to providing patience, structure, and continued training. She will thrive and become your best friend for life. *Please keep in mind when considering adoption, dogs thrive on structure and routine. They adjust significantly better when their owners are committed to providing consistency and stability. The adoption fee for Saleta is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours. To speed up the process, contact your vet and give them permission to speak with us. If you do not get a response within 24 hours, check your spam folder

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
