Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (long coat). CitrusTX) is a female Pitbull mix rescued in Texas. Our veterinary partner estimates that Citrus is 4 years old at the time of intake September 2023. Citrus is good with people, dogs and cats. She was found roaming the rural streets, found on Citrus street in TX, near death and emancipated. Her foster reports Good morning from citrus. This poor girl has been through a lot. She was found on the streets of Texas where she was eating rocks. Yes, rocks can you believe it. God knows only what happened to her eye as it had to be removed. Her other eye is fine! she is house trained gets along with other dogs and cats. She is extremely affectionate and is somewhat of the couch potato. she will be looking for her forever home.Her ultimate favorite thing to do is snuggle. She is a Pitbull mix and approximately 4 yrs old 55pounds. She would do well with a family or a single person. All she wants is a ton of love. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
