Description
Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever / German Shepherd Dog. This is Massey. He is a 1 1/2-year-old Labrador/ German Shepherd mix. There may be some other breeds in there of course. Heâs what my dad would call a Heinz 57 mixâ¦. A little of this and a little of that. Massey weighs about 50-60 pounds and has short slick fur. Heâs a wonderful dog with a winning personality. He is house trained, crate trained and very loving. He spent the last 6 months to a year living in a one-bedroom apartment with another large dog and a cat. I think he would do fine with either, given proper introduction. He has not been around small children so Iâm not sure how he is with that. Massey has a good bit of energy and loves to snuggle, like he will want to sleep with you if you let him. Unfortunately, his owner can no longer care for him due to poor financial decisions, so he is here with me, his foster mom. Iâve grown to love him, but he deserves more than kennel life. Perhaps his sweet face will speak volumes for him and touch your heart. (posted 2/15/26, HS) " " Adoption Fee: $395.00-- covers microchip, worming, all vaccines, monthly heart worm preventative, monthly tick/flea preventative, spaying/neutering, health certificate, and complete medical records. Overview:
The Labrador Retriever, a beloved and highly popular breed, originated in Newfoundland, Canada, where they were initially bred to assist fishermen by retrieving nets and stray fish. Physically, they are medium-to-large dogs, known for their strong, athletic build, short, dense, weather-resistant double coat (commonly seen in black, yellow, or chocolate), and their distinctive "otter" tail. Temperamentally, Labs are celebrated for their friendly, outgoing, and good-natured disposition, making them exceptional family companions. Their intelligence and eagerness to please contribute to their trainability, though they do require consistent exercise to prevent boredom and destructive behaviors. While adaptable, their energy levels make them more suited to homes with yards, or highly active families, rather than apartment living, unless daily extensive exercise is guaranteed. Regarding health, Labs can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia, and some eye conditions, so responsible breeding practices are crucial. Overall, their loyalty, versatility, and affectionate nature firmly establish the Labrador Retriever as a wonderful addition to many households.
