Say hello to HUNTER, a 90 pounds big ole playful and happy guy, really he is so happy and loves to play with the other dogs. HUNTER can be submissive believe it or not with his big self. But sometimes when the other dogs play too rough, HUNTER retreats away from the rough housing. HUNTER is 5 years old and previously owned but somehow ended up on the streets of San Antonio, TX and picked up as a stray landing him in our city's very high-kill shelter. His owners did not come for him, sad. But we hope to make HUNTER have a happy ending by finding him a loving home he can relax in. He is very mellow and so obedient. He is healthy and had a few teeth that needed to be removed that made his jaw swollen and look crooked. Actually he still has a front tooth that sticks out and just makes him unique looking. HUNTER would make a great family pet and he is a true Rottweiler who thinks he is a lap dog. If you are interested in adopting HUNTER, please submit an application on the website below. Each dog comes spay/neutered (fixed), rabies shots appropriate for their age, and dewormed twice. The dogs are up to date on vaccinations according to their age at the time of adoption. They are microchipped, heartworm tested and on monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventative. ALL OF THIS IS INCLUDED IN THE ADOPTION FEE. We transport across the United States. Medical records will come with each dog at the time of adoption. Our organization is run by volunteers/foster parents, please be patient to give us time to respond to your emails and/or phone calls. Overview:
The Rottweiler is a powerful and intelligent breed, originating in Germany where they were primarily used to drive cattle and guard property. Physically, they are robust dogs, instantly recognizable by their medium-large size, strong build, and striking black coat with distinct tan markings, particularly on the muzzle, chest, and legs. Their temperament, when properly socialized and trained, is one of unwavering loyalty and confidence; they are known for being calm and courageous, making them excellent guardians. While generally good with children within their own family, their protective instincts mean they require supervision with strangers. Due to their size and need for regular exercise and mental stimulation, Rottweilers are generally not ideal for apartment living and thrive in homes with secure yards. Health-wise, they can be predisposed to conditions such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as certain heart conditions, necessitating responsible breeding practices and regular veterinary check-ups.
