Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Terrier / Mixed. Meet Brandy! Brandy is an approximately 1 year old Pit Bull mix weighing around 42 pounds who is ready to find the loving forever home she has been waiting for. Brandy has been waiting 90 days to find her furever family and as of 08/10/26 she officially became a Diamond Dog, which means her adoption fee has been reduced to $75 to help this deserving girl find her family. Brandy is friendly, affectionate, and full of personality. She may take a little time to settle into new surroundings, but once she feels comfortable, her playful and loving personality quickly begins to shine. One of the fastest ways to win her heart is with belly rubs, which happen to be one of her favorite things! As a young and energetic dog, Brandy would thrive with a family that can provide regular exercise, playtime, consistency, and plenty of affection. She appears to be house trained and should transition well into a home routine with continued structure and patience. Brandy has an energetic play style and may do well with a canine companion who also enjoys active play. If you currently have another dog in the home, a meet and greet is required prior to adoption to help ensure a good match. Brandy is not recommended for homes with children under 16 years of age. Brandy is spayed, microchipped, current on her vaccinations, and heartworm negative. As a Diamond Dog, her reduced adoption fee is $75. Brandy has so much love and personality to share and is ready to leave shelter life behind for belly rubs, adventures, and a family of her very own. If you are adopting a pet under the age of 12 weeks or an animal that has not yet been spayed or neutered, you will be required to return the pet to our facility on the agreed upon date set at the time of adoption. This policy is non-negotiable and violation of this health code is a criminal offense.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
