Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Terrier / Mixed. Brandy is an approximately 1-year-old Pit Bull mix who weighs 42 pounds and is now searching for her forever home after never being reclaimed. She was found on 05/10/26 near Smith Rd. and Devonport Dr. in Rockwall and has quickly shown what a loving and loyal companion she can become. Brandy may be shy and reserved when meeting new people, but once she feels comfortable, her sweet personality truly shines. She loves belly rubs, enjoys affection from her trusted people, and would make a devoted sidekick for someone willing to give her a little patience and understanding while she settles in. Beneath her timid exterior is a sweet dog who simply wants to feel safe and loved. Brandy is also a higher-energy girl who enjoys active play and would benefit from a family prepared to provide her with regular exercise, enrichment, and structure. If placed in a home with another dog, any canine companion would need to be able to tolerate her energetic play style. Since Brandy is still new to our shelter crew, a meet and greet will be required prior to adoption for homes with other dogs to ensure a good fit. She is more than likely house trained and with consistency and routine, she should transition into home life quickly and continue building confidence in her new surroundings. Brandy is not recommended for homes with children younger than 16 years old. Her adoption fee is $125. Brandy is spayed, microchipped, current on rabies vaccination, boosters to date, and she is heartworm negative. If you are interested in giving Brandy the loving home she deserves, please apply online at rockwalladoptions/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ All animals, unless otherwise noted in their description, are at 1825 Airport Rd. in Rockwall, TX. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
