Description
Dog Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Lawsey Mae came into the shelter with a gunshot wound. She had been so mistreated, other than what could be seen on the outside. For months, she growled and barked when anyone was outside of her kennel. When someone entered, she cowered inside the crate that was still there from the the day she came in. Patience has done what once seemed impossible. Slowly, Lawsey Mae's walls have crumbled. Today, this resilient girl can be safely leashed and walked. Instead of cowering, she now greets her favorite caretakers and is able to warm to strangers quickly. Lawsey Mae is looking for a very special, patient adopter who understands that trust takes time. She desperately needs to experience the true kindness of humans, a warm bed, and the security of a quiet home.
