Description
Dog Breed: Schnauzer. Hi there… my name is Ollie. Not too long ago, I found myself scared and confused in a loud, overcrowded shelter until the wonderful people at SOCA came to my rescue. Now I’m hoping to find a forever family of my very own. I’m a sweet, loyal boy who loves being close to my people. If you need a shadow, I’m your guy! Whether you’re relaxing at home, working around the house, or enjoying some fresh air outside, I’ll happily follow you just about anywhere. I’ve got lots of energy and would love a home with a large fenced backyard where I can run and play. I’d probably do great with another playful dog friend too! Right now, I’m learning commands like “sit,” “stay,” and “fetch,” and I’m excited to keep learning with the right family. I’m very food motivated, love my toys, and after playtime is over, my favorite place to be is curled up next to my person as your lap buddy. More than anything, I just want someone to love and stay close to forever. Maybe that could be you? ❤️ My adoption fee is $350 locally in Houston, TX. It includes all my vaccines, spay/neuter, and microchip. Fill out an app at: toolkit.rescuegroups/of/f?c=SQYPSGVQ

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
