Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier. Meet Ford — a 1‑year‑old Pit Bull with a stunning dark‑red coat and the personality of a big, goofy baby. He’s all about playtime, running, cuddles, and toys. Ford may not have a lot of deep thoughts bouncing around in his head, but he knows one thing for sure: he’s ready to be your best friend. Think of him like a Ford F‑150 — strong, dependable, built for adventure, and always excited to go wherever you’re headed. He’s the kind of dog who’s happiest riding shotgun in life. Ford came to us as a stray, and before arriving, he did growl at children. Because of this, he will need a kid‑free home where he can feel safe and comfortable. During his cat test, Ford was a little too interested in our feline friends, so he’ll also need a cat‑free home. He’s still pending his dog test, which will be completed once he’s fully recovered from his neuter. Ford is a sweet, energetic boy who’s ready to find a home that loves him as much as he’ll love you. Ford's adoption fee is $125, which helps support their medical care and preparation for adoption. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
